A little bit about me
After discovering the fascinating world of watercolor in 1998, I began my journey in learning how to express myself in this wonderful and exciting medium. Although I have no formal training in painting, I have been most fortunate to have been able to take workshops with such artists as Cheng-Khee Chee, Barbara Nechis, Zoltan Szabo, Stephen Quiller and others. There is also a world of books on painting, many of which have become cherished friends.
My true delight in painting is in expressing my responses to the beautiful world outdoors, especially the woods, streams, trees, flowers, rocks and old buildings. Light and color are the primary elements that come into play when I am painting. But in a painting that I consider successful, there will also be an element of mystique…a little area left undefined. That part is totally me.
Being a scientist during my “day job”, it’s a bit of a challenge getting into my “right” brain and staying there when I’m painting. Maybe the architectural landscapes are my outlet for that aspect. Each piece on my website, however, was painted for a reason and touched a warm place in my heart. I do hope as you view my work that you find some piece or element that touches you as well.
